lesson 10

We sang our new "hello" song and went over farm animals and the body. Whenever we go over one big topic, I try to incorporate colors and numbers as well.

The following web pages have the body vocabulary and the two videos will give you some pronunciation help. You will have to copy and paste the links.

Then we practiced greetings and said the phonetic sound cards.

We're continuing to learn the numbers up to 30.

lesson 4

We did our hello, ABC and good bye song from the previous lessons.

We practiced greetings and simple conversation again. We will do this for a weeks now, so the kids will have it down and can say it without my help.

The kids did very well saying their numbers from 0-10
today . We started learning them from 11-20. You have or will get a copy with the written numbers on them.

Here's my big helper Luca saying them:

Next, we did a few colors games and then learned the first stanza of
"
Grün, grün, grün sind alle meine Kleider". Here is the text in German and English.

lesson 3

We did our hello, ABC and good bye song from the previous lessons.

To practice the greetings, we went over them in form of a role play. I asked the kids several questions like:"What would you say if you met someone during the day?" Then they got to talk to their friends. We used this document (cut into strips) to guide our little conversation.

Then went over 10 colors by playing several games. Cick to open a color document and watch the video below for pronunciation. Here's also an online activity.

lesson 2

We started our lesson by singing the welcome song.

Next, we continued with these questions & answers and greetings.

The kids very much enjoyed singing this ABC song from you tube. We just sang the first part. We don't want the kids get too confused for now, right? :)

This week we tried saying and signing the ABC's (From this web site http://americansignlanguage101.com/page/40/american-sign-language-dictionary )and will continue that the next few weeks. We'll add the phonetic sound of each letter in our next lesson. Here's a great demonstration in English for the American Sign Language ABC. If you already know the benefits of learning sign language particularly with a young child, then you will also believe that sign language is very helpful in learning a foreign language. This has worked for us in Spanish class, so I will apply it here and there for German class as well. Sometimes we'd first ask the kids for a certain word, but only after we did the sign, they could think of the word. It's amazing!

We reviewed the numbers from 0-10 by counting objects and then pretended to call our friends by saying their phone numbers out loud. We used this work sheet from http://www.kidsweb.de/ to write our friends numbers down.

Lastly, we sang our good bye song from lesson 1.

Lesson 1

We started our first German class with this song. You can find a video just below the lyrics.

Welcome song:

Hallo

Wir woll'n uns begrüßen und machen das so:
Hallo! Hallo!
Schön das ihr heut' da seid und nicht anderswo!
Hallo! Hallo!
Hallo-hallo-hallo,
hallo-hallo-hallo!

Hello

We would like to great each other and do it like this:
Hello! Hello!
Nice you’re here today and not somewhere else!
Hello! Hello!
Hello-hello-hello,
Hello-hello-hello!

Here's the video to the song:

This good bye song is one of my favorite songs from preschool. I'm pretty sure it's a favorite among German kids.

Good bye song:

Alle Leut' geh'n jetzt nach Haus'

Alle Leut', alle Leut' geh'n jetzt nach Haus'
Alle Leut', alle Leut' geh'n jetzt nach Haus'
Grosse Leut', kleine Leut',
Dicke Leut', dünne Leut'
Laute Leut', leise Leut'
Alle Leut', alle Leut' geh'n jetzt nach Haus'

Alle Leut', alle Leut' winken sich zu,
Sagen auf wiedersehen,
Das war heut' wieder schön.
Alle Leut', alle Leut' winken sich zu.

Everyone, Everyone Is Going Home

Everyone, everyone is going home.
Everyone, everyone is going home.
Big people, little people,
Fat people, thin people,
Loud people, quiet people,
Everyone, everyone is going home.

Everyone, everyone is waving goodbye.
Say goodbye,
That was fun again today!
Everyone, everyone is waving goodbye.

Here's the link that will lead you to the audio file of "Alle Leut" on Mama Lisa's webpage. There are some high pitches in the song, turn your volume to low!
